Care of your Clothes
• Coats, suits and dresses should always be hung on hangers, and kept under cover to avoid soiling by dust.
• Never put more than one garment on each hanger. Make sure the hanger is the right size for the garment.
• Use padded hangers for flimsy garments.
• Use specially adapted hangers for skirts.
• Keep all clothes under cover to avoid soiling. Hang either in a wardrobe or in large plastic bags which completely cover them.
• Do not overcrowd your wardrobe, or your clothes will be permanently creased.
• Regular brushing, sponging and pressing under a cloth will keep clothes looking smart and increase their life.
• Launder clothes regularly, or have them dry cleaned, especially before putting them away for winter or summer.
• Keep woollies folded flat in drawers or on shelves. Never bundle them up, or they will be creased and un-wearable.
• Keep lingerie folded flat.
• Keep belts, stockings, gloves, hand-kerchiefs and scarves in polythene bags so that they remain clean and readily available.
• Keep a bottle of spot-remover and a needle and thread handy for on-the spot first aid.
